I think we should go over what road watch is. It is a govt. and OPP program used all over North America in many jurisdictions. It has worked very well in keeping driving a whole lot safer. Here’s how it works:

Town of Mono, ON (Don Butt) Something old is back. A year ago when our famous sign on airport road was taken down by the County of Dufferin (illegally, as we now know) the subject has been raised again by a committee of concerned residents who say that our sign was making a big difference and they want it back. The wording on the sign was what you need to make people take notice – this is peoples lives we are talking about (60 or 70 the last time I checked).

Stunt Driver Charged in Mono

Mono, ON (OPP - Dufferin Detachment) On March 17, 2014, an officer from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement in the Town of Mono. The officer observed a 2001 Kia travelling northbound on Airport road south of Mono Centre road at a high rate of speed and determined that the driver was operating the vehicle at 134 km/hr. in a 80 km/hr. zone. The vehicles plates were expired.

Increased Penalties for Handheld Devices and Display Screens

No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a highway while holding or using a hand-held wireless communication device or other device that is capable of receiving, transmitting telephone communication, electronic data, mail or text messages.

OPP and Policing Partrners Kick-off Canada Road Safety Week

(Dufferin County, ON) Canada Road Safety Week runs from May 13-20, 2013. Throughout the campaign, Canadian police services across the country come together to ramp up enforcement and raise awareness surrounding the “Big Four” major causes of death and injuries on roadways: impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving and failure to wear or improper use of seat belts.

New Sign Installed on Airport Road

Town of Mono, ON (Mono Community Policing Committee) A new and updated sign was installed on Airport Road on Monday January 23rd by the Dufferin County Roads Department. Updating this sign was a joint effort between the OPP Dufferin Detachment and the Mono Community Policing Committee. The new sign now accurately reflects the number of accidents, personal injuries, and deaths that have occurred on this very dangerous stretch of road since 1978. Statistics will be updated annually. It is hoped that this sign will help to give drivers pause and reinforce the need for responsible and cautious driving.
