Huronia West OPP Festive R.I.D.E Campaign Ends With Impaired Driving-related Deaths and Injuries

Dufferin County, ON (OPP - Dufferin Detachment) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wrapped up its Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) campaign on a sad note over the weekend, with a total of six people losing their lives in impaired driving-related incidents over the seven-week period.

(Dufferin County, ON) – During the week of December 28, 2015 to January 3, 2016 officers from the R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) Team and Patrol Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted 11 R.I.D.E. spot checks at various locations within the Town of Caledon.

OPP Festive RIDE Program Targets Alcohol and Drug Impaired Drivers

Dufferin County, ON (OPP - Dufferin Detachment) Police know that the approaching holiday season brings an increase in the number of alcohol impaired drivers on Ontario roadways. This means there is likely to be more tragedy on our roads in the days ahead. The Ontario Provincial Police are setting up traffic stops around the province and around the clock as they kick off the 2015 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign. This highly effective public safety initiative will run throughout the holiday period from November 23 until January 2, 2016.

OPP Officers Touched by Acts of Kindness

Amaranth Township, ON (OPP - Dufferin Detachment) On Friday February 13, 2015 at 9 pm Dufferin OPP members were conducting an R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check on the 3rd Line at 5 Side road in Amaranth Township.

The weather on this particular night was very cold with high winds. The officers conducting the spot check were visibly cold from performing their duties standing on the roadway.

OPP thanking motorists ahead of Festive R.I.D.E. campaign but not letting their guard down with impaired drivers

(Primrose, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is taking the rare step of thanking Ontario drivers ahead of their 2013 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign for not driving impaired over the holidays and for helping them get impaired drivers off our roads.

The reason for the early thank you is because the OPP knows that the vast majority of drivers do understand that enforcement is only part of the solution and that driving sober is the single most important factor in ending the numerous impaired driving related deaths that occur on Ontario roads every year. The OPP considers these drivers to be among their most dedicated road safety partners because they share the responsibility of saving lives on our roads through responsible driving behaviour.

OPP Nab More Impaired Drivers During Week #2 of Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign

(Dufferin County, ON) Drivers continued to ignore warnings during the second week of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E. campaign and according to the OPP, motorists who chose driving impaired over making simple alternate arrangements to get home should not be surprised about getting caught.

As of Sunday, December 9, 2012 (16 days into the campaign), the OPP have charged 284 drivers with alcohol related criminal driving offences and issued 275 Administrative Driver's Licence Suspensions (ADLS) for registering a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) between .05 and .08 (known as the Warn Range).

Two Impaired Drivers Arrested in Mono

(Mono, ON) Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police had a busy night on Hwy 10 in Mono over the weekend as they responded to two separate impaired driving complaints.

In the first complaint officers were dispatched to report of a White Ford Ranger pickup truck southbound on Highway 10 from Highway 89. The vehicle was intercepted on Hwy 10 southbound and 25th side road after being observed weaving all over the road.
