(DUFFERIN COUNTY, ON) – Dufferin OPP are offering the following helpful tips when dealing with door to door salespersons;
- First, you do not have to deal with a salesperson, or let a salesperson inside your residence.
- If you tell anyone to leave your property, they must comply.
- If they don't leave, call police. Don't let the salesperson start their pitch until you have seen photo ID.
- Get the name of the business and the name of the salesperson.
- Don't sign on the spot. If the salesperson pressures you to sign on the spot, don't.
- Shut the door or insist that you need additional time to read and understand the agreement.
Fully understand the agreement before you sign anything;
- How long does the agreement last?
- Are there any other costs?
- Are there fees if you cancel the agreement?
By following these helpful tips residents can become informed consumers.
