Dufferin OPP’s Wish for Victoria Day Holiday Weekend

Dufferin County, ON (OPP - Dufferin Detachment) Dufferin OPP will be participating in Canada Road Safety week over this Victoria Day Holiday Weekend. Locally Police will be focusing on the following highways
  • Dufferin County Roads 11,12,18(i.e. Airport Road) and 109
  • Provincial Hwy 10
and stepping up their enforcement looking for Distracted, Impaired, Inattentive speeding drivers and occupants of vehicle not wearing seatbelts.

Unfortunately over past years several serious collisions have occurred on these particular highways causing serious injuries and fatalities. We fully realize families are focused only getting to their holiday destination but must concentrate on good safe driving skills to get to their there safely.

The wish of our detachment is that we do not want to have to attend residences of victims killed in collisions over this weekend and change a family’s life forever. Please don’t put our officers in this position as it is tragic for not only the family but is difficult task for officers.” says Provincial Constable Paul Nancekivell.

If you see an Impaired Driver call 911 on your cellphone hands free and give as many details as you can to our police communications centre.

Let’s work together Dufferin County with your policing partners in making this a safe and healthy Victoria Day Weekend.
