OPP Nab Driver for Impaired and Dangerous Driving in Mono

(Mono, ON) On September  12, 2013 after 9:00 p.m. Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a report of a Northbound silver 2002 Nissan Sentra traveling on Highway 10 in Caledon Village going 120 km/hr. in a 50 km/hr. zone with headlights turned off.  

At 9:25 p.m.  Dufferin OPP observed this vehicle travelling northbound Highway 10 at 30th side road in Town of Mono at  177 kilometres per  hour in an 80 kilometre per hour zone with headlights turned off. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and activated their cruiser’s emergency lights, the driver put his lights on, then turned them off again and continued to speed.  The Nissan nearly rear ended a car turning left at the traffic lights in the Village of Primrose, as he continued straight on Dufferin County Rd. 19.  The vehicle then came to an abrupt stop in the northbound lane, just north of Highway 10 and 89 Primrose intersection in the Town of Mono.

Further investigation lead to the arrest of the sole male occupant. He was taken to Dufferin OPP for intoxlizer tests. 
 
A 23 year old Brampton, OON man was charged with  Dangerous driving,  Impaired driving, and Drive Motor vehicle over 80 mgs of alcohol.  His car is impounded for 7 days and drivers license for 90 days  

He was released on a Promise to appear to attend Orangeville Court on  October 1, 2013.
