OPP Investigate Fatal Collision in Melancthon

(Dufferin County, ON) On Thursday September 13, 2012 at approximately 10:30 pm, Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on the 4th line of Melancthon south of 20th side road in Melancthon Township in Dufferin County. 

 
Preliminary investigation reveals a motor vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the southeast ditch. As a result, the teenage male occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A second teenage male occupant was transported to Headwaters Hospital by Dufferin EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision investigators have attended and are assisting in the investigation. The deceased's name is not being released pending notification of next of kin. Investigation is continuing.
