(Dufferin County, ON) - Summer Holidays are ending and children will soon be returning to school. This means school busses will once again be travelling on area streets, roads and highways and students will be walking and biking to school.
Dufferin County OPP would like to take this time to remind motorists to pay close attention when meeting or following a school bus.
Remember, motorists in both directions must stop when approaching a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended and red lights flashing. Don’t start moving until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm has been retracted and the bus has begun to move.
Drivers are reminded to be extra cautious when travelling near schools or school zones
Watch for pedestrians or cyclists
Obey all speed limits
Watch for school buses and other vehicles dropping off or picking up students
Road safety is a shared responsibility and everyone is expected to contribute to keep our roads free from unnecessary tragedy.
