OPP Charge Driver with Dangerous Driving in Rollover Collision


(Mulmur, ON) On Sunday June 10,2012 at approximately 7:17 p.m. Dufferin OPP were dispatched to single vehicle rollover on Airport Road 1 km North of Mansfield in Mulmur Township.

Upon arrival police found a 2007 blue Honda civic 4 door sedan had rolled over into east ditch and was completed destroyed. The three occupants including the driver had minor injuries and were all treated by Dufferin County EMS paramedics and released at scene.


Preliminary investigation by police and interview of several eyewitnesses revealed that the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed south when it pulled out to pass on crest of hill and swerved and narrowly avoid colliding with two Northbound motorcycles. The vehicle hit the shoulder and lost control rolling over into the east ditch. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision.

The same vehicle was involved in a traffic complaint on Simcoe County Rd #42 (Airport Road) minutes before this collision.

Dufferin County OPP have charged the 16 year old male driver with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date in Orangeville. The drivers name is not being released as he is a Youthful Offender under Youth Criminal Justice Act.
